Not a true nut, the shiny round 25-mm (1-inch) seed is enclosed in a thick leathery husk that splits alongside one facet throughout the ripening process. Note: Trees grown from seed may take 7-10 years to provide nuts and won’t at all times be true to the father or mother variety. Trees take 7-10 years to mature and produce nuts.
